Pitzer College Vice President for Academic Affairs Nigel Boyle will report on an initiative designed to build social justice curriculum at the Claremont Colleges: “inside-out” courses, in which Claremont students are taught alongside inmate-students, all of whom receive college credit. A new partnership between the Claremonts, community colleges and carceral institutions will lead to degree-level curriculum inside southern Californian prisons.

All 5 Claremont Colleges ranked in the top 25 in the U.S. in the recent Forbes magazine ranking of best liberal arts colleges in the U.S. Nigel Boyle will outline their collaboration in promoting innovative curriculum focused on addressing social problems such as mass incarceration.
