Dr. Ashley Wan is an accomplished regional Economist specializing in East Asia and the Pacific. She is currently a member of the IFC Country Advisory and Economics Team, based in Hong Kong, where she focuses on macroeconomic monitoring, policy dialogue, and market research. In her role, Ashley provides critical support to IFC management and investment team, ensuring that operations are underpinned by robust economic analysis. She also collaborates closely with World Bank economists on macroeconomic monitoring and joint analytical initiatives, including contributions to the Climate Change and Development Report.
Previously, Ashley served as a China Economist at Bloomberg, where she conducted macroeconomic monitoring, delivered thematic research, and advised institutional clients, including policymakers and central banks. Earlier in her career, she worked on regional development strategies for China's 13th Five-Year Plan with the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC).
Ashley was a visiting scholar at the NYU Stern School of Business, where she was invited by Nobel Laureate Michael Spence. She holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Renmin University of China.
