Plastic waste became a hot topic in 2018 – particularly single use plastic packaging for food and beverages. Companies and organizations around the globe have announced reductions and bans of single use plastics, from straws to bags to food and beverage packaging. But as plastics are everywhere and in nearly everything we use, solutions are not simple and straightforward. What is PLA, compostable plastic, biodegradable plastic? How does the "bring your own" movement play into this? How do we make the right decisions without creating unintended consequences? How might increased public awareness, more policy, better infrastructure and effective circular processes contribute?
This event will bring together a panel of experts from different sectors to answer these questions and demystify the complicated plastics issue.
