12:00-1:45pm. Gravitas: Voice and Presence is an intensive, interactive vocal workshop led by All Voice Talent MD David Pope. Exploring the elusive and sought-after quality ‘gravitas’ the session covers:

What constitutes 'gravitas'
What a voice with gravitas sounds like
Using the science of the voice to speak with gravitas
How speakers use vocal variety to project gravitas
The crucial importance of non-verbals: posture, gesture and expression
Using audio and video samples, as well as interactive group exercises, this workshop will give participants a chance to explore ways of using their voice and physical presence to project gravitas.

David has spent the last 26 years immersed in all things voice. Beginning his career in London at the BBC, he has since worked in commercials, documentaries, TV series and radio, both in the UK and in Hong Kong. As a voice coach, producer, director and voice over artist he understands the impact of the spoken word – not only what needs to be said, but how it must be delivered.

As program architect and senior voice coach David teaches across all our Executive Voice Coaching programs, both 1-1 and in small groups. He uses his experience in the recording booth to deliver key vocal skills (volume, pace, projection, vocal tone, articulation, gravitas etc.) to executives who wish to build their vocal control and vocal impact, in order to enhance their executive presence. He works with high-grade microphones, headphones and both fixed and mobile recording equipment to deliver high-tech, high-touch experiential learning, either on-site in his recording studio or at the client’s office.

As a voice expert, David has written opinion columns and articles for Campaign Asia and Human Resources Magazine, been filmed for TVB’s Money Magazine, and featured in HR Magazine. He has been a guest speaker at APAC Leadership Conferences and D&I network launches, and guest judge on RTHK’s play writers competition Songbirds, and the British Council’s Young Journalists competition.

David has coached executive clients and event speakers from leading organisations including: TEDx Sydney, Standard Chartered, Goldman Sachs, Weber Shandwick, Credit Suisse, Mayer Brown JSM, Baker & McKenzie, Microsoft, Nomura, and Hogan Lovells. His many voice over credits include Star TV, Now TV, Channel V, Adidas, AXA and Smartone, among others.
