With looming economic fears and societal concerns, Hong Kong has turned to the safe harbors of the four institutions of society – business, NGOs, government, and media to weather the headwinds. According to the 2024 Edelman Trust Barometer for Hong Kong, Trust levels in the four institutions of society have rebounded to levels not seen since before the pandemic.

Hong Kong has spent several years focused on establishing itself as an innovation hub – in Asia and on the world stage. Despite the 2024 Trust Barometer findings that Trust in innovation is in peril globally, we see a very different picture in this part of the region.

Join us for this AmCham special briefing, where we discuss how businesses and organizations can capitalize on the current Trust environment, better navigate the complex innovation landscape, and understand what drives public confidence in the changes that innovation brings.

Last Year's Trust Barometer Details

The 2023 Edelman Trust Barometer is the firm's 23rd annual trust study which is usually launched every year at the World Economic Forum in Davos. It is the largest study of its kind, surveying 33,000 respondents in 28 markets, and its findings garner worldwide attention from international media. Trust is the ultimate currency in the relationship that all institutions—companies and brands, governments, NGOs and media—build with their stakeholders. Following the global launch, Edelman produces market-level reports and hosts strategic events to dive deep into the findings and implications locally.

In this year's Edelman Trust Barometer, despite trust declining across all four institutions (Government, Business, NGOs and Media), NGOs and businesses continue to be considered trustworthy sources of information – especially "my coworkers"

Delicia Tan

CEO, Hong Kong and Greater Bay Area of Edelman

Delicia Tan is the CEO of Edelman Hong Kong and Greater Bay Area. In her role, she also manages Edelman Taipei. She is also Edelman’s Asia Pacific Chair for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
With more than 20 years of Integrated Marketing Communications experience across the Asia Pacific, Delicia is a Senior Client Strategist for key regional and global clients. She serves as senior counsel for Yidan Foundation, Sunkist, Starbucks, Marriott, and Lululemon, in Hong Kong.
Delicia is a seasoned client counsellor, having helmed some of the firm’s largest global client relationships, as the Regional Client Relationship Manager for Samsung and GE, with a focus on Reputation Management and Brand Building.
Delicia started her Communications career at the Singapore Tourism Board, building Brand and Marketing Communications campaigns in line with Singapore’s economic objectives.
Delicia also spent three years as a journalist, pioneering Digital News Content and Reader Engagement for Singapore’s flagship newspaper, The Straits Times.
She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (Distinction) in Media Studies from RMIT University in Australia.
