In face of evolving US-China relations and Washington's changing sentiment toward Hong Kong, AmCham will be reinstating the annual Doorknock to Washington DC this June, the first in-person doorknock since 2019. Delegates will meet with policy and law makers from the Biden administration, Congressional representatives, and think tank experts to gain on the ground perspective on Washington's trade policies toward Hong Kong and China. This year's advocacy mission will be an important opportunity to highlight the strategic role of Hong Kong, as well as American business interests and values in Asia.
Key Objectives
To understand US global and regional trade policies and priorities under the Biden administration
To gain a comprehensive knowledge of the Biden administration's Indo-Pacific economic strategy
To emphasize Hong Kong's strategic role in sustaining US-China relations, and as a regional platform for tackling other important issues facing American and international business in the Asia-Pacific arena
To underscore Hong Kong's value as a center of business excellence, the city's importance as a regional platform for tackling other important issues facing American and international businesses in the Indo Pacific region
Other industry-specific issues covering financial services, tax, apparel and footwear, agriculture, and others (open to suggestions)
This high-level delegation will meet with interlocutors from:
US Government (e.g. Dept's of State, Commerce, Treasury and US Trade Representative)
Congressional offices (e.g. House/Senate Committee for Foreign Relations)
All interested AmCham HK members are welcome to submit their name to be considered for the delegation. Delegates will be selected based on the following criteria:
Ability to represent the chamber, as well as their own industry/sector
Understanding of the issues that member companies face
Ability to convey the experience of a US or international business in Hong Kong, China and the Asia-Pacific region
Prior involvement or leadership in AmCham Hong Kong

Date: July 16-19, 2023
Duration: 3 Full Days
*Administrative Fee: US$1,750
Suggested travel dates:
Arrival on or before July 16 (A delegation dinner will be held in Washington DC in the evening)
Departure: evening of July 19 or after
*Note:
Delegates will pay their own expenses including airfare and hotel.
The administrative fee will cover meetings, breakfast, lunch and ground transportation between meetings
Delegates will be required to participate in pre-Doorknock briefings and planning meetings at AmCham
