Ir . Elvis Au is the Assistant Director of the Environmental Protection Department of Hong Kong SAR Government in charge of nature conservation and waste infrastructure planning including waste - to - energy facilities , food waste management strategy and organic waste treatment facilities .
He has about 30 years of experiences in various environmental fields including EIA, strategic environmental planning , corporate environmental management, water policy and sewerage, green procurement, energy policy and waste management policy and projects .
Mr . Au holds a Bachelor Degree (major in environmental engineering) and Master of Science in Urban Planning from University of Hong Kong and Master of Science in Finance from University of London. He is a Fellow of Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (Environmental Division), Fellow o f Hong Kong Institute of Planners and a Chartered Environmentalist of CIWEM.
Mr . Au is the Past President of International Association for Impact Assessment , being the first Chinese to be elected to serve as the President in this international professional body . He is currently the Chairman of the Working Party on Accreditation of System Certification Bodies under the Accreditation Advisory Board and a member of the Task Force for Green Technology in Sci ence Park . Mr . Au has published a number of chapters and papers in international journals and books .
