Daniel Chan is the Head of Business Banking, Commercial Banking, Hong Kong for The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited. One of his key priorities is to bring HSBC to the forefront during the fast-evolving digital era, ensuring the Bank is offering a simpler, faster and better banking experience to customers.
With more than 20 years of banking experience, Mr Chan has a career spanning across sales and marketing, commercial lending, product management, business strategy and organisational development within banking. In the past decade, he has held senior management positions in HSBC Business Banking both in Singapore and Hong Kong, leading the business through periods of change and achieving sustainable growth.
In January 2017, HSBC was the first commercial bank to launch a Virtual Assistant. The chatbot solution called “Ask Amy” supports customer enquiries across multiple channels, anytime and anywhere. The Bank also pioneered in providing a WeChat notification service for Hong Kong business customers who opt to receive designated transactions and account information through this channel. This is the first bank to offer API connected cloud based accounting solutions. HSBC will continue to commercialise new technologies, deliver product innovation and enhance business customer’s experience while supporting their growth in the digital era.

Nicole Chou is the head of e-commerce for Greater China at Facebook. A visionary leader with more than 15 years of extensive knowledge and experience in sales, business development and client management, Nicole leads Facebook’s monetization strategy for the e-commerce vertical in Greater China.

Nicole is also the Diversity and Inclusion lead and the executive sponsor for Woman@ Facebook Hong Kong office to provide leadership and strategic advice to accelerate Facebook’s effort in reaching this goal. She serves as a strategist, evangelist, innovator and mentor for Facebook Resource Groups (FBRG). By working together with the FBRG lead at Facebook Hong Kong, Nicole helps articulate the Facebook mission, vision and goals for the group.

Prior to Facebook, Nicole was senior business development manager at Google where developing partnership business across Asia was her major focus. She joined Google from DoubleClick. In her tenure at DoubleClick, she served as the business development director for Asia. Nicole holds a Master’s Degree in Global Business from the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Basil joined the first Virtual Insurance company in Hong Kong, Bowtie Life Insurance Company Ltd as Senior Manager, Creative & Branding. Based in Hong Kong, he manages Bowtie’s branding strategy and works closely with the CEOs on growth hacking. On a city level, he provides insights on marketing consultation, creatives and data analytics.
With a Master’s Degree in Advertising from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Basil has always had an eye for inventive branding strategies that offers brands a touch of tradition as well as a breath of fresh air. Prior to his role at Bowtie, Basil brings on a wealth of start-ups experience from global unicorn companies, including Uber and GOGOVAN. Besides, he leaves his mark on international advertising agencies, including Leo Burnett, Ogilvy & Mather and McCann Erickson where he worked closely with a diverse range of global brands such as P&G, Pfizer and Cathay Pacific.
While not at work, you can catch Basil at the latest hidden gem tasting food from around the world. Or when at home, he is binging on movies of all sorts, offering a piece of his advice on his own blog. He’s also into spinning, preferably in the dark, with pop music and club lighting.

Ben Simpfendorfer is CEO of Silk Road Associates, a data-driven strategic advisory based in Hong Kong.

Ben advises Fortune 500 multinationals and leading Asian firms on their commercial strategies in Greater China, South East Asia, the Middle East & Africa, providing clients teams with geospatial-driven solutions based on the firm’s proprietary SRA Intelligence® analytics. He briefs CEOs and executive boards worldwide.

Ben has worked in Asia and the Middle East for over 20 years. He was previously chief China economist at RBS and senior China economist at JPMorgan in Hong Kong. He started his career in Beirut in the 1990s, later working as a Middle East & North Africa senior analyst for Dun & Bradstreet in London.

Ben is a Mandarin and Arabic speaker, and author of The New Silk Road (2009) and The Rise of the New East (2014). He is a leading specialist on China’s Belt & Road Initiative (BRI) and a member of the Foreign Experts Committee advising the Chinese government on BRI’s implementation. He is a Board Member of PBEC, one of Asia’s oldest business organizations, and Co-Chairman of the China Business Committee at AmCham Hong Kong. He is also a regular commentator on Bloomberg & CNBC.
