Mr. John Chai is the Executive Director, Projects of the Airport Authority Hong Kong since October 2012. Mr. Chai oversees the planning, development and implementation of infrastructure and airport facility projects at the Hong Kong International Airport, notably the Western Apron development, the Midfield development and the proposed three-runway system project.
Previously, Mr. Chai was the Director of the Civil Engineering and Development Department of HKSAR Government, overseeing projects including the Central and Wan Chai Reclamation, Kai Tak Development and West Kowloon Cultural District. With a career spanning over 30 years, he has implemented and managed large infrastructure projects including the Lantau Link, the world-renowned Tsing Ma Bridge, Tuen Mun Road, Tuen Mun New Town Development, Route 10 and Yuen Long Highway.
Mr. Chai is an engineering graduate of the University of Hong Kong and has professional qualifications with a number of Engineering professional bodies.
