Amita Haylock is a partner in the IP & TMT group of Mayer Brown in Hong Kong. Her practice focuses on litigating and advising on intellectual property, technology, media, telecommunications, competition, public law and commercial issues across a broad range of industries.

Amita’s experience includes acting for clients in disputes including breach of a variety of commercial contracts and licensing agreements, infringement of intellectual property rights and breach of confidence. In the litigation context, she has represented clients in Hong Kong before the Telecommunications (Competition Provisions) Appeal Board, High Court, Court of Appeal, Court of Final Appeal and Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC).

Amita also has substantial experience in representing applicants and respondents in high-profile judicial reviews involving various complex issues including those in the broadcasting and telecommunication sectors.

In the arbitration context, Amita has worked on various cross-border arbitrations involving licensing, commercial, and competition, technology and intellectual property issues.

Amita has recently been named one of the most outstanding lawyers in Asia under the age of 40 by Asian Legal Business (ALB). She co-chairs the firm’s Women’s Network in Asia and is a strong advocate of pro bono work. Amita was the recipient of individual awards at the Law Society of Hong Kong Pro Bono and Community Service Awards in 2018, 2019 and 2020, in recognition of the number of hours contributed to pro-bono work in each of those years, of which a significant portion was spent handling an arbitration case for a well-known charity.

Amita is fluent in English, Malay, Hindi, Punjabi and Bahasa Indonesia.

Dan is experienced in all facets of intellectual property law, in particular, anti-counterfeiting and IP enforcement.

Admitted in Hong Kong, Australia, and Wisconsin (USA), he has practiced extensively in the US (as both a patent litigator and public prosecutor), Europe (as EMEA anti-counterfeiting counsel for Nokia) and in the PRC and Asia Pacific, both as in-house counsel for Louis Vuitton (managing its AP anti-counterfeiting program), as well as in private practice with two of the world’s leading international law firms and one of Australia’s premier IP practices.

Dan acts on behalf of a wide range of clients, including garment manufacturers, electronics and computer companies, pharmaceuticals companies, and luxury goods manufacturers. Of particular note is his wealth of experience in designing and managing regional intellectual property programs and IP security programs in supply chain and distribution contexts.

Dan is a frequent speaker and writer on intellectual property topics, having published articles on online counterfeiting, the development of landlord liability theory, trade secrets protection and the design and management of Asia-based supply chain programs. Dan also serves on the International Trademark Association’s Anti-Counterfeiting Committee.

Fluent in Chinese Mandarin, Dan has practiced as a China IP specialist for approximately 18 years. He is recognised as a leading practitioner by industry publications such as IP Stars, WTR 1000, Chambers and Legal 500.

Michelle Wei is Vice President and General Counsel of Asia at Flex. Flex is a Global Fortune 500 company listed on Nasdaq with approximately 160,000 employees across 30 countries. Michelle’s primary responsibilities are managing a wide range of legal issues in Asia region which include corporate governance, commercial contracts, procurement, disputes management, compliance, M&A, new investment, labor & employment and other regulatory areas.
Prior to joining Flex, Michelle worked with law firms in China and New York. She was also trained at a solicitor’s firm and a barrister’s chamber in London.
Michelle holds law degrees and a master degree in economics from China and the US. She is admitted to practice law in China and New York State.
