According to Boeing’s market outlook for the period 2016 to 2035, Chinese Mainland airlines are expected to buy nearly 7,000 new aircraft with an estimated value of around US$1 trillion. For Asia as a whole the expected deliveries are forecast at over 15,000. As a premier banking and capital market Hong Kong should be well positioned to capture opportunities arising from what promises to be a sizeable and lucrative market for aircraft financing.

The Government has recently introduced a Bill proposing a specific tax incentive regime for the aircraft leasing business in Hong Kong. The concessionary measures are expected to remove the impediments to Hong Kong taking its share of the global aircraft leasing business, as well as creating opportunities for the financial and professional services sectors.

The Chamber is pleased to have John Timpany, International Tax Partner with KPMG China and Johnny Lau, CEO of Astro Aircraft Leasing share their insights on the opportunities arising from the new aircraft leasing tax regime.

Topics to be covered:
  • How does the aircraft leasing business work?
  • What are the likely benefits to Hong Kong?
  • How do the new tax incentives work?
