As businesses recover from the global COVID-19 pandemic, the late-2022 survey also examines the impact of major U.S. initiatives such as the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF) and the Partnership for Global Infrastructure and Investment (PGII) on commercial activities in the region.

Speakers Brett Stephenson Public Affairs Lead for North Asia at UPS Hsien-Hsien Lei Chief Executive Officer at American Chamber of Commerce in Singapore
Brett Stephenson is the Public Affairs Lead for North Asia with UPS based in Hong Kong, covering trade, supply chains, customs, e-commerce, public policy, and healthcare logistics issues in the Indo-Pacific region. Prior to his time in Hong Kong, he worked at the American Chamber of Commerce in China in Beijing as a government affairs analyst and energy coordinator, developing policy reports that were used by Chinese and US government officials and reported on by the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Financial Times, and other international media outlet.
He sits on the Board of Governors and is Co-Chair of the Trade and Investment Committee for the American Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong, and is a member of AmChams in Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and Malaysia and the German Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong. Brett co-leads the UPS North Asia Sustainability Committee and leads the North Asia Business Risk Committee. Mr. Stephenson is a member of the Urban Land Institute and sits on the Customs and Trade Facilitation Committee with the Conference of Asia Pacific Express Carriers. Brett holds an M.A. in international relations and a thesis in energy geopolitics from Renmin University of China, an international program certificate from University of Ulsan, and an urban planning degree from the University of Lethbridge. He speaks and reads intermediate Chinese, Spanish, French, and has beginner level Korean and Japanese. Mr. Stephenson is a regular golfer, hiker, boxer, and likes to play tennis and train in Kendo.
Dr. Hsien-Hsien Lei is Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of The American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) in Singapore — the largest and the most active international business association in Singapore and Southeast Asia representing nearly 600 companies. Hsien is also Adjunct Associate Professor at the National University of Singapore Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health, member of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health’s Advisory Board, Vice President of the Precision Public Health Asia Society and board member of TalenTtrust.
Prior to AmCham, Hsien was Vice President, Medical and Scientific Affairs, Medtronic Asia Pacific, where she was responsible for the Medtronic Innovation Centers in Japan and Korea, training and education, and the company’s health systems transformation strategy in the region. Hsien has extensive experience in scientific affairs, corporate and healthcare communications, advertising, public relations and government affairs. Hsien has lived and worked in the US, Taiwan, Japan, Vietnam, UK, and is now based in Singapore. She holds a BA (with honors) in Human Biology from Stanford University and a PhD in Epidemiology from The Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health where she was the recipient of a US National Institutes of Health Cardiovascular Disease Epidemiology Training Grant. Her doctoral thesis explored the genetic epidemiology of end-stage renal disease and type 2 diabetes. She completed her post-doctoral fellowship at National Taiwan University Hospital in the Department of Internal Medicine. Welcome to Glue Up.
