Dr. Cheng obtained her PhD degree in Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management from the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto. Her research is dedicated to helping employees achieve and maintain well-being in the workplace. This includes understanding how and when workplace anxiety can enhance performance, recovering from daily job demands, and maintaining proactivity in the workplace. She has published in journals such as Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Applied Psychology, and Journal of Personality and Social Psychology. Her research has been featured in leading media sources such as The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, The New York Times, and Harvard Business Review.

Truddy heads up Consulting North Asia, Work Dynamics, JLL. She is a subject matter expert in workplace and workspace transformations paying particular attention to productivity for people, business and space.
Together with her team, she provides occupier clients with Workplace Strategy and Change Management services. She has a background as a trained architect and she brings more than 22+ years of experience from design as well as corporate real estate industries to serve her clients in the conversations of high performing workplaces.
Truddy connects business objectives and desired culture to workplace strategy. Her change management expertise helps organizations transform from traditional siloed work patterns to dynamic collaborative work experiences. These workplace strategies prioritise business goals and optimal employee performance at the forefront and not losing sight on mitigating real estate challenges around space. Her approach is using evidence-based methodology in creating future proofing real estate strategies which is particularly relevant now in an unpredictable pandemic era. With lots of learnings in past 2 years during COVID, she remains focused in identifying strategic ways to overcome the challenges with working from home and business efficiency. When considering between hybrid workstyles, activity based working, downsizing or upsizing, she believes it is most important to balance culture and productivity.

Cynthia heads up the HR and Pensions practice and is also the head of Corporate Commercial of the Firm.

She has considerable experience in all labour-related matters (both contentious and non-contentious) and obtaining employment visas for expatriates and their families. She also advises on occupational retirement schemes and the Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) and data privacy issues. Cynthia is also experienced in the setting up and advising on on-going requirements of companies limited by guarantee e.g. private clubs and non-profit organisations.

Highlights

Cynthia regularly advises employers on drafting of employment contracts, reviewing employment related policies and handbooks, drafting of benefit compensation plans, advising on employment disputes, discrimination issues and privacy issues.

She frequently acts for employers in defending discrimination claims and claims in the Labor Tribunal. Other highlights include advising on employee restructuring in a major MNC and conducting investigations in whistleblowing claims by employees. Cynthia is also a rare find in the market who is well-versed with employment aspects in commercial transactions and M&A deals. She recently acted for 2 financial institutions in a proposes merger and advise them of complicated HR issues.

Cynthia also regularly advises on implementation of share plans offered by Offshore companies to their subsidiaries in Hong Kong.

In addition, Cynthia regularly conducts employee trainings to staff e.g. on employment law updates, workplace ethics, data privacy and related issues.

Cynthia also regularly advises employers, trustees and administrators on ORSO retirement scheme documentation and restructuring. She recently assisted a large bank to set up an ORSO successor scheme.
