Hong Kong's financial industry has long embraced technology to improve the quality and resilience of its services which has made it it fertile ground for accelerating innovation and daring to break paradigms through the use of new digital tools. The Hong Kong government and its agencies have embraced the change through initiatives such as HKMA's virtual banking scheme; SFC's regulation of virtual asset platforms, or the IA sandbox for non-face-to-face distribution of insurance products to name a few.
