Tatman Savio is a Chambers-ranked attorney based in Akin’s Hong Kong office. She counsels clients on U.S. law and policy affecting international trade and business, including anticorruption laws, anti-boycott regulations, export control laws, sanctions programs and foreign investment laws. She also manages compliance and internal investigations for companies in a diverse range of industries, and advises companies that are subject to potential enforcement actions by the U.S. government and World Bank. Tatman works with both U.S. and non-U.S. companies to design, build, improve, and implement compliance programs that are tailored to address the areas of legal risk presented by their business operations. She also develops training presentations and seminars on a variety of international trade control topics, which she has delivered throughout the Asia Pacific region, including in China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Singapore and Taiwan. In addition to Chambers, Tatman has been recognized by Euromoney’s Women in Business Law Expert Guide for International Trade and The Asia Legal Awards as International Trade Lawyer of the Year.

Joseph G. Fawkner is a senior policy advisor based in our Washington, D.C. office. He draws on nearly 25 years of experience in the U.S.-China commercial diplomacy arena to advise both public and private clients on international trade and economic matters.
Joe draws on his deep knowledge of Congress and experience working with the White House, the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) and other federal agencies to advise multi-national companies, associations and institutions on U.S.-China trade issues; China market access; the industrial policies of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and the People’s Republic of China (PRC) to advocate for his clients.

Prior to joining Akin, Joe served as senior policy advisor to U.S. Rep. Carol D. Miller (R-WV). In this role, he advised the Congresswoman on international trade, investment and energy export policies pertaining to her membership on the House Ways and Means Committee and leadership of the House Energy Export Caucus. He also spent nearly a decade at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce advising multinational companies and investors on international government affairs strategies, specifically helping to design, build and manage the Chamber’s International Leadership Program. In this capacity, Joe served as the executive director of the Hong Kong-U.S. Business Council.

Hans Rickhoff is a partner based in our Washington, D.C. office. He advises on legislative, regulatory and administrative issues, building on prior experience in the Texas legislature and as a senior principal and general counsel at a business advisory and public policy firm.

Hans routinely advises foreign sovereigns on U.S. foreign policy matters, including the development and implementation of strategies to advocate their policy objectives before and enhance their relationships with the legislative and executive branches of the U.S. government. He represents clients across a deep breadth of legislative, regulatory and administrative matters at the federal, state and local levels, and has significant experience in representing U.S. clients before the U.S. Congress. He regularly assists clients in developing, implementing and managing targeted legislative strategies to further their interests and also counsels clients in navigating and understanding the U.S. federal agency decision-making process. His practice expertise and practice focuses on technology, healthcare, energy and infrastructure, immigration, national security and defense as well as U.S. federal funding.
