She has 18 years in the professional services business focused on business development, market strategy, client relationships and building new services and products across digital, data, customer and emerging technology.
Currently she is running the global customer intelligence and partnership teams using insights and innovation to drive HSBC's core business as well as push the boundaries of how they operate. Jen's customer led approach to delivering business results includes surfacing services across digital platforms to create relevance, opportunity, new products and entirely new businesses whilst building new distribution for existing products and services. A mother of two, she was raised in Hong Kong and speaks Mandarin. She is one of the founders and chair for both TEDxShanghai (2011-2016) and TEDxTinHauWomen. Her experience includes running her own consultancy to provide strategic communications advice, content creation, executive communications and thought leadership support as well as coaching for public speaking. Born and raised in Malaysia, she started her career as a financial journalist with Reuters, working in senior roles in New York, Dallas, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam and India for more than 20 years. Christina is a writer at heart, who believes in the power of words to inform, inspire and influence. She graduated from Columbia University with a Master’s in International Affairs, and from West Virginia University with a Bachelor’s in Journalism. With more than decade of sell-side and corporate experience, Esme Pau returned to Macquarie in April 2022 as Head of HK/China Internet and Digital Assets Research. She began her career as an equities research analyst and was a sector lead at both Barclays and Jefferies. She then transitioned to a corporate advisory role in which she advised senior executives, and multinational and Global Fortune 500 companies on digital transformation and global competitive intelligence at the intersection of retail and technology. Most recently, she led a technology-focused equity research offering at a Chinese broker.
Esme has unique perspectives across industries, spanning early stage to pre-IPO and public equities and has been recognised for her insights into disruptive technology trends. She is recognized as one of the most influential analysts in the digital assets community, with solid relationships and insights in cryptos, NFTs, Web3, and DeFi, and her views are highly sought after by leading private and institutional funds.
