The eighth session of Onward Hong Kong series, held on Wednesday, focused on Hong Kong's journey to becoming a world-class hub for arts, culture, and sports featuring a panel of experts including Bernard Chan, Prof Gillian Choa, Kenneth Fok, Samantha Scott, and Felicity McRobb (moderator). Some key takeaways: - The West Kowloon Cultural District was first mentioned in the 1998 Policy Address, but it took 10 years to establish the Authority and another 10 years to complete the project. The commitment level from all parties is unwavering
- Hong Kong has both the hardware and software for arts, culture, and sporting events. Attracting a global audience is key to becoming an international hub
- Institutions such as the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts play a vital role in nurturing local performers
