The ninth session of Onward Hong Kong series, held on Wednesday, focused on regional cooperation and opportunities for and beyond Hong Kong. This panel invited experts David Butts (moderator), Isara Vongkusolkit, Khalil Manaf Hegarty, Twinky Chai, Irina Fan, and Witman Hung to share their insights with over 40 attendees. Some key takeaways: - As an international business hub with international best practices, Hong Kong is a good sandbox for companies to scale up their business and go global in the areas of compliance, design, branding and marketing;
- Hong Kong can develop into an education hub to reskill and upskill talent from other global markets such as ASEAN, Belt and Road;
- There are strong ties between the Greater Bay Area and the Belt and Road; as a super-connector, Hong Kong’s competitive advantages lie in investment & finance, trade & logistics support and professional services;
- As Asia’s No.1 green finance hub, Hong Kong plays a critical role in fulfilling US$9 billion green infrastructure investment needs along the Belt and Road;
- Although Hong Kong isn’t a member of the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF), there are opportunities for Hong Kong in terms of trade facilitation and good regulatory practices (GRP)
