The emergence of Myanmar has excited global investors and business interest. Myanmar possess several innate competitive advantages but its nascent economic development creates several challenges for successful foreign investment to flow into the country.
To facilitate investing and doing business in Myanmar, private-sector members of the UN ESCAP Business Advisory Council Task Force on Regional Integration and Connectivity have initiated the Myanmar SME Link project.
Myanmar SME Link is designed to be a trusted electronic platform for international companies to connect easily with, invest in, and collaborate with Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Myanmar.  The aim of this platform is to match the business and investment needs of Myanmar SMEs with those of international companies and thus save all parties much time and effort. The platform will also be a resource for international business and Myanmar SMEs by providing information, peer-learning and networking opportunities.
Raghu Narain will give an overview on the challenges of doing business deals in Myanmar and the project rationale. Barbara Meynert will provide details of the Myanmar SME Link platform and its benefits for Hong Kong business.
